Identity theft occurs when someone uses your name, address, Social Security number (SSN), bank or credit card account number, or other identifying information without your knowledge to commit fraud or other crimes.

2. Do I have to be a Dominion utility customer to enroll?

No, you do not have to be a Dominion utility customer to enroll in this valuable program. We just ask that you pay your annual membership of $69.99 with your credit card.

3. If I am a Dominion utility customer, can I pay by credit card as well?

Yes, as a Dominion utility customer you can pay annually ($69.99) with your credit card or pay monthly ($5.95) on your monthly utility bill.

4. If I have trouble enrolling online, who do I call?

If you have a problem enrolling online, call Customer Service at 1-866-665-0370 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., EST, Monday through Friday.

5. If I have billing questions, what number do I call?

If you're an enrolled member and have billing questions, please call 1-800-562-8419 or 1-866-645-9811 (Virginia only), 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., EST, Monday through Friday.

6. Can I enroll more than one household member?

You can enroll other household members by calling Dominion Products and Services at 1-866-665-0370 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., EST, Monday through Friday or enrolling online at www.retail.dom.com/idshield.

7. How does the Identity Shield Protection Program work?

As a member, you’ll have access to a number of tools should you become an identity theft victim.

This includes: a Victim Counseling Hotline to call once you know or suspect that you are a victim, a Victim Assistance kit that is mailed directly to you that includes letter templates to be used in the process of reclaiming your identity, comprehensive Credit Card Registration that gives you toll-free access to an administrator who stores all of your credit card information for easy access and cancellation, helpful hints to deter identity theft, up to $10,000 of reimbursement benefits should you incur out-of-pocket expenses, FamilyKeys™ personal data organizer software to record your financial and personal information in one location and HackerSmacker firewall software to help keep your online experience secure.

8. What does the $10,000 reimbursement benefit cover?

The benefit will reimburse you for certain eligible expenses incurred in reclaiming your identity such as legal, notary, phone, affidavit, loan reapplication, lost wages (up to $500 per week, for 4 weeks) and credit report expenses, subject to a $50 deductible per policy period.

9. How does the Credit Card Registration work?

After you join the program, a membership package containing a program guide and credit card registration form will be send to your address of record. Complete the form by listing all of your credit card information (account numbers, expiration dates, telephone numbers, etc) and return to the administrator using the business reply envelope that comes with the package.

10. What is a firewall and why do I need it?

A firewall is a type of software that monitors all incoming network traffic while you're online and allows in only the connections that are known and trusted.
