Wildwood Crest New Jersey Borough

Wildwood Crest is a Walsh Act borough in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 3,980.

The Borough of Wildwood Crest is a small shore resort community located at the extreme southern end of New Jersey.  Our magnificent free beaches are among the most beautiful in the world.  We offer thousands of hotel rooms for your accommodation, and we are just a short drive to the casinos of Atlantic City and the many other interesting and exciting attractions in southern New Jersey.

The area of the borough was first developed by Philip B. Baker in the 1900s as a southern addition to the resort of Wildwood, with the first houses going up in 1906. Rapid growth resulted in official incorporation as a borough on April 6, 1910.

The children's literature author Aliki Brandenberg was born in Wildwood Crest.

The Crest Pier located at 5800 Ocean Avenue offers a variety of activities. There are youth and adult sports programs, senior programs, two- and five-mile runs, gymnastics, dance, Tai Chi, and aerobics classes, youth and adult basketball leagues, toddler programs, tot soccer, grade school dances, and a well renowned summer day camp and basketball leagues. The Joseph Von Savage Memorial Pool

The Wildwood Crest swimming pool is located at 8800 New Jersey Avenue. This indoor pool facility offers open and lap swimming, cardio- vascular and adult fitness work out programs. It is also the home of the Wildwood Crest Dolphin swim team and a senior citizen swimming program. We can also accommodate special events such as parties and other water related activities.

Wildwood Crest and its neighboring towns of West Wildwood, North Wildwood, and Wildwood make up "The Wildwoods" resort, a popular localized vacation destination for those living in all parts of New Jersey as well as within the New York City and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania metropolitan areas. Unlike its sister towns of Wildwood and North Wildwood, Wildwood Crest is generally set apart from the all-hours excitement that the resort is known for.
